A Complete Guide To Interval Training [Infographic]

Have you tried high intensity interval training yet? You may have heard it referred to as a HIIT workout or Tabata training. My favorite at-home exercise routine for when I really want to work up a sweat is TurboFire (developed by Chalene Johnson and distributed by BeachBody), and it incorporates a lot of HIIT training. Check out this video to see how much fun these workouts are. If I only have a short amount of time to workout, but want to make the most of it, I like to use Tabata routines (they are 4 minutes long!). For those of you who are already in great shape, but want to take it to the next level, I have to recommend BODYROCK.tv as the best resource on the web. The videos are free, and they are REALLY hard.

Whether you would like to develop your own interval training routine, or use one you found somewhere, it is highly advised to invest in an interval timer. They are only around $20 and you can set your preferred exercise and rest times according to the training method you choose. I love mine; it is so easy to pick a few different exercises, plug in your intervals and go to town (I used to time my runs with it, too, back in the days when I was trying to be a runner).
