Product Review: Fernadele Facial Cleansers

August is my birthday month, and my awesome mother gave me an Etsy gift card to spend on myself this year. I had SO much fun using it up!! Lucky for me, Fernadele’s botanical skincare line is also (mostly) available on Etsy, so I was able to try out two of their facial cleansers using my gift card. I was in the market for both a daily cleanser and a twice-a-week facial scrub, and I couldn’t have picked two more perfect products.

Lush Cleansing Grains

Lush Cleansing Grains

The Lush Facial Cleansing Grains say they can be used daily, but I have sensitive skin and found the grit in this scrub to be better suited for my twice weekly exfoliating regimen. Fernadele has three different types of cleansing grains that correspond with the company’s 3 lines of products that are formulated for different skin types. I chose this one because I have combination skin – oily in the “T” zone and dry everywhere else. Another draw for me was some of the ingredients I saw on the label – goat’s milk and jojoba oil are moisturizing, carrot oil is anti-aging, while Rhassoul clay and rice powder are both oil absorbing.

Carrot oil is one of those ingredients that I have a love/hate relationship with. It’s great for the skin, but it adds somewhat of a carrot baby food odor to anything you put it in. So while I otherwise love these cleansing grains, if you have qualms about using a product that smells like oatmeal and carrot baby food, I’d choose a different option.

What else is in it? Here is the full ingredients list: milled organic oats, organic rice powder, organic almond meal, goats milk powder, organic maca root, rhassoul clay, organic green tea powder, organic jojoba oil, lemongrass oil & carrot seed oil. This formula was obviously well thought out and I like how everything is organic.

Bliss Cleansing Cream

Bliss Cleansing Cream

The second facial cleanser I bought was for daily nighttime use to remove makeup before bed, and is Fernadele’s Bliss Cleansing Cream. I was interested in this product because it is formulated for aging skin; and although I am still young, I have developed a crease on one side of my mouth (damn you, crooked smile!) and some fine lines are starting to form on my forehead and around my eyes. It’s trivial stuff, but I figure it’s never too early for preventative measures! This cleanser is gentle and moisturizing, which I prefer for daily use, since I don’t want to dry out the areas of my face that already tend to be dry.

The Bliss Cleansing Cream has a light, nondescript herbal scent to it. I find it complements my evening organic facial serum quite well. Both contain rosehip seed (anti-aging!) and chamomile oils, which I think must be the combination I am smelling. It’s very spa-like.

What’s in it? Organic castile soap, organic witch hazel extract, aloe vera gel, vegetable glycerin, organic rosehip seed oil, guar gum, vitamin e, organic rose geranium essential oil, organic helichrysum essential oil, frankincense essential oil, and roman chamomile essential oil.

Note: I am no longer able to find this product for sale on Fernadele’s main website or Etsy store at this time, so I am unsure if it is still available. I certainly hope so! But if not, I’ve been wanting to try facial cleansing oil for awhile now, and Fernadele just happens to have a line of them. I am very impressed with this company and will definitely be purchasing from them again.

Next on my wishlists from Fernadele? All three of these soaps! (p.s. check them out on Facebook).
